Miga(deers) + Halli(village)=Migagalahalli(Village of deers) later became Megaravalli.
And also
Megha( Milky Clouds) + Halli(Village) = MeghaHalli later became Megaravalli.

As per the documents available at Kavaledurga mutt (fort of Keladi Shivappa nayaka)about the history of mallikarjuna temple it leads back to 10th century B.C.in that it is mentioned that,"Migaravalli Samsthaanaadheesham Sri Mallikarjuna swamy praseedathu".
If you have read "Malegalalli Madumagalu" by KUVEMPU.then you are familiar with the name this village.
Famous personalities who were born & brought up here are Dr.Ha.Ma.Nayaka,Bilumane Ramadas, M.R.Dharmaiah Gowda(Ex DTE)Dr.M.D. Teekappa(Guinness record holder), B.V.Murthy(Press) Maanu(film), M.D.sridhar(film director)& many others.
The Govt. higher primary School was Established here on 1906.There are many historical & scenic beauty places nearby.
